Fitasy Introduces Single-Shoe Purchasing: Because Not Everyone Needs a Pair

Have you ever needed to buy a shoe? Not a pair. Just one shoe. Half of a pair, at half the price.

For some people, that's surprisingly difficult. Those who use prosthetics, or who only require one shoe for other reasons, often struggle to buy a single shoe. These customers frequently rely on specialist shoe banks, Facebook groups, or informal exchanges to find a match of a single shoe. Others are forced to purchase a full pair and leave one unused.

At Fitasy, we create custom-fit footwear built around individuals, because every foot is different and every customer has different needs. Recently, we realized that for some people, the question isn’t just about fit — it’s also about accessibility. One shoe instead of a pair.

Introducing custom-fit single shoes

Inclusivity is at the heart of what we do. That’s why we now offer a single-shoe purchase option for the custom-fit Fitasy Stride 2.0, allowing customers to order just a left or right shoe, rather than a pair.

The option is built directly into the ordering process — no special requests, no telephone calls, and no store visits. Just a simple selection, as if you were choosing your shoe color, and a seamless shopping experience (click here).

For customers who only need one shoe, this removes a long-standing barrier.

“When I run, I use an artificial running blade, so I only need one shoe. For years, that meant buying a full pair and leaving one unused. It was a waste of money and an unnecessary contribution to the landfill. It never made sense to me.

That's why I'm really excited to finally see a shift in the industry. Innovations, like Fitasy's 3D printing and foot-scanning technology, shows what’s really possible when footwear is designed around real people with real needs, not just the average customer.

What’s not to like about shoes that are made to fit — and made just for me? I’m excited to see how this radically new way of making shoes can push inclusive and personalised design forward, and start addressing individual needs and preferences that have been overlooked for far too long.”

Why hasn’t this been done before?

Traditional footwear manufacturing is built around making and selling pairs.  Producing, stocking, and retailing individual shoes is far less commercially viable, so most brands have historically overlooked this smaller group of customers altogether.

With the advanced 3D printing technology that Fitasy deploys, producing a single shoe becomes far more practical and cost-effective for individual production. We can manufacture one shoe without many of the inefficiencies of the traditional production processes, avoiding unused pairs, reducing unnecessary waste, and minimizing excess inventory. This approach is difficult and rarely viable on standard production lines used across the industry today.

By producing footwear on demand using a single-material design that is easier to recycle, we also help lower environmental impact — while delivering superior comfort to active individuals and those on their feet all day.

Ultimately, we believe footwear should reflect individual needs. Sometimes that means adapting the shoes to the shape of your foot — and sometimes it means asking a simpler question: one or two?

Offering single shoes is one step in our ambition to create a truly inclusive brand and give people more choice by transforming how footwear is designed, made, and experienced,

Because sometimes, one shoe is exactly right. Or left. Or both. The choice is yours.
