WHO WE ARE
We’re a multidisciplinary team of engineers, material scientists, and entrepreneurs who have been united by a shared passion for transforming how footwear is designed, made, and experienced. In other words, we are a bunch of geeks who love a pair of comfortable and fitting shoes. As we struggled to find these in the market, we decided to make them!
We bring experience from world-class institutions like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the University of Wisconsin–Madison, as well as leading engineering, design, and manufacturing firms such as Cummins Inc.
By combining deep technical expertise with strategic business insight, we bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world innovation—turning bold ideas into products that move people forward (literally!).
OUR LEADERSHIP
Yujun (Eugene) Wang, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer & Co-founder
Yujun leads Fitasy’s mission to make 3D-printed footwear accessible to everyone. With nearly two decades of research and engineering experience in the automotive industry, including at leading consultancy Cummins Inc. and in academia, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), he combines deep technical expertise with a vision for data-driven, sustainable manufacturing.
He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Computation from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the U.S.
Fun fact: As a kid, Yujun loved hanging out in the shoe warehouse in Nanle, China where his father worked — maybe that’s where his passion for footwear began. But before following his footsteps, he earned a scholarship and moved to the U.S. to pursue science. At home, Yujun is known for his “old-dad” jokes — though, sadly, they usually fall flat.
Carl Justin Kamp, PhD., Chief Scientific Officer & Co-founder
Justin drives Fitasy’s technology development in lattice and structural design, advanced materials, and 3D-printed footwear. Also an adjunct professor at the University of Hawaii and research scientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Justin brings decades of experience in materials science, physics, and engineering from Caltech (LIGO project), Columbia University, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and as a founder of Kymanetics Inc., a physics and materials science research consultancy.
Justin holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Reaction Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology, in Sweden.
Fun fact: You’ll usually find Justin surfing the waves or playing music with his band — though these days, he’s happily preoccupied with his newborn baby, Casper. He’s fluent in Swedish.
Jian Gong, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer & Co-founder
Jian oversees Fitasy’s software innovation, focusing on spatial AI, advanced imaging, and 3D printing technologies. Before co-founding Fitasy, he spent over a decade at Cummins Inc., a global leader in automotive engineering and manufacturing, where he advanced human-centered design and computational modeling to solve complex, real-world challenges. Today, he brings the same spirit of innovation to footwear since the human foot is one of the most complex structures in the body, like a combustion engine to a vehicle.
Jian holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University of Wisconsin–Madison, U.S.
Fun fact: A true sports enthusiast, Jian enjoys everything from basketball to bowling, but tennis always wins his heart. Outside the court, he loves exploring national parks with his family and is on a mission to visit every one in the U.S.
Kevin Wu, Chief Business Officer & Co-founder
Kevin Wu heads up Fitasy’s business strategy, global operations, and partnerships with retailers and other key stakeholders. Born in Canada and raised in China, he grew up immersed in sports—from youth international soccer to competitive tennis—always searching for shoes that truly fit, performed well, and looked great. Drawing on his background in venture capital, business development, and computer science—and inspired by a lifelong passion for sport—he’s committed to closing that gap. Kevin holds an MSc in Computer Science from Imperial College London, in the UK.
Fun fact: When he’s not working on Fitasy’s next big move, you might find Kevin at the piano, on the tennis court, or out walking his Bichon Frise, Debbie. He’s fluent in Mandarin and can hold a conversation in French.
